The Swiss watch and the rest of the world.
The Swiss watch represents half of the value in the production around the world. The prices of these watches, higher than Asian products, is justified by each high quality part that composes the watch , which guarantees the solidity and the unfailing reliability. A Swiss watch is built to last forever.
The swiss watch movement
We will only discuss the analogical display movement (hands or other) in opposition to the digital display which is not represented so much in Switzerland. We distinguish the mechanical movements (automatic or manual) from quartz movements (batteries). We also differentiate the watches (2 or 3 hands) from the chronometers (2 or 3 push-buttons and small meters – 5 to 7 hands). ERIC TABARLY watches only include, for the moment, quartz movements: ETA or ISA movements, which are the principal manufacturers of Swiss quartz movements.
The glass of watch
The 3 glass materials used in the watch-making industry:
Hézalit, a PMMA-based plastic, is easily scratched while having the advantage that the microscopic scratches are erased from the friction of a shirt or sweater sleeve.

Mineral glass is used more as a compromise between entry- and mid-level of watches.

Crystal sapphire, which is the synthesis of crystal, harder than steel and difficult to be scuffed, is used for the top-level products.

Watch case and steel wristwatch
Low-level products often use plastic, brass, or even aluminum watch casements. These materials are not used anymore in Swiss clock-making industry. The high-level manufacturers use high quality stainless steel. Due to the close contact between the watch casings that enclose the watch and the skin, there is more risk for allergies to develop when low level materials are implemented. On the other hand, 316L type steel which has effective anti-allergic properties is popularly used: One of best steels in the world.
All ERIC TABARLY watches are made with 316L steel.
Sealing
The watches of ERIC TABARLY are not for diving, but they are waterproof up to 50 meters.

SWISS MADE 
The improvement of the accuracy in measuring time goes hand in hand with the development of maritime adventure. For a long time, the chronometer was the only tool for measuring the longitude. A deviation of 1 second in the chronometer meant a deviation of 463 m at the level of the Equator...
Nowadays, satellites have replaced the chronometer, yet a nice chronograph or a nice watch is still an appreciated companion for life on the ocean.
